DMCA & Copyright Policy

To report content on YourSpace that you believe infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to enforce, send a written notice to our Designated Agent that contains all of the following (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if multiple works, a representative list).
3. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with the full YourSpace URL(s) sufficient for us to locate it.
4. Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email.
5. The following statement, verbatim: "I have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
6. The following statement, verbatim, signed under penalty of perjury: "The information in this notification is accurate, and I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."

Knowingly material misrepresentations in a DMCA notice are subject to liability for damages, costs, and attorneys' fees under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Please consider whether your claim is covered by fair use, fair dealing, or another exception before sending.

Once we receive a compliant notice we will, in accordance with the DMCA, (a) remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material expeditiously, (b) take reasonable steps to notify the user who posted it and forward your notice (redacting your phone number where possible), and (c) record the notice in the affected user's strike history.

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3) containing:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the removed material and the location at which it appeared before removal.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
4. Your full legal name, address, telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal District Court for the district of your address (or, if outside the U.S., for any judicial district in which YourSpace may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant.

If we receive a valid counter-notice we will forward it to the original complainant and, unless they file a court action within 10–14 business days, we will restore the material.

Consistent with 17 U.S.C. § 512(i), we maintain and enforce a repeat-infringer policy. Accounts that accumulate three (3) sustained copyright strikes within a rolling 12-month period will be permanently terminated. Egregious or coordinated infringement may result in immediate termination at our sole discretion.

For trademark, right-of-publicity, defamation, or other non-copyright complaints, contact legal@joinyourspace.org with the URL(s) at issue, the right you are asserting, evidence of ownership where applicable, and the basis for your claim.

EU users and rights-holders may submit notices in the form prescribed by Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act to dmca@joinyourspace.org; we will acknowledge receipt, decide expeditiously, and provide a statement of reasons as required by Article 17.
