🌍 YourSpace is coming to the EU community soon!

We're finalizing our EU GDPR representative, DSA single point of contact, and local payment/tax setup before actively promoting in the European Union. Until then, the Service continues to operate transparently everywhere else under the policies below.

YourSpace is committed to operating transparently. This page summarizes how our ranking systems work, how we moderate content, and how we respond to legal requests, in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065), the UK Online Safety Act 2023, Germany's NetzDG / DSA-DG, France's SREN, Australia's Online Safety Act, and equivalent regimes worldwide.

1. Ranking parameters (DSA Art. 27)

Feeds, recommendations, and the News tab are ranked using the following main parameters, in approximate order of weight:

  • Your stated interests selected during onboarding and editable any time from Settings → Interests.
  • On-platform engagement signals you generate: upvotes, follows, saves, replies, and dwell time.
  • Recency and freshness of the content.
  • Quality signals: report rate, downvote ratio, and creator standing.
  • Geographic relevance for News and Place pages, derived only from coarse IP-based country/region.

You can switch to a non-personalized chronological feed at any time from Settings → Feed. Disabling personalization does not degrade access to the Service.

2. Content moderation

Our Community Standards are published in our Terms of Service §4. Threads that exceed defined report or downvote thresholds are automatically hidden pending human review. Decisions are appealable within 6 months by emailing appeals@joinyourspace.org; we target a 14-day response. EU users may additionally refer disputes to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under DSA Art. 21.

3. Periodic transparency reports (DSA Arts. 15 & 24)

We publish a transparency report at least once every six months covering: total content removals by category, government and law-enforcement requests received and complied with, DMCA / copyright notices received, appeals received and outcomes, automated moderation accuracy metrics, median response times, and account suspensions. The next report is scheduled for publication within six months of this page's effective date; interim summaries are available on request at transparency@joinyourspace.org.

4. Government & law-enforcement requests

We disclose user information only in response to a valid legal process (subpoena, court order, search warrant, MLAT request, or a properly scoped emergency-disclosure request involving imminent risk to life). Each request is reviewed by counsel; we narrow or challenge overbroad requests. Where lawful, we notify affected users before disclosure. Send legal process to legal@joinyourspace.org and consult our Imprint for jurisdictional contact points.

5. Trusted flaggers & illegal-content notices (DSA Art. 16)

Any person or entity may submit an illegal-content notice to illegal-content@joinyourspace.org with a substantiated explanation, the exact URL(s), and the submitter's contact details. We prioritize notices from organizations awarded "trusted flagger" status by an EU Digital Services Coordinator.

6. DSA single point of contact (Arts. 11 & 12)

Authorities & DSCs: dsa@joinyourspace.org
Users: dsa-users@joinyourspace.org
Working language: English (we also accept notices in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch).
Our EU legal representative under DSA Art. 13 is disclosed on the Imprint.

7. Advertising

YourSpace does not currently run third-party advertising and does not profile users for ad targeting. If this changes, we will publish a DSA Art. 39 advertising repository and update this section in advance.

8. Protection of minors

YourSpace is an 18+ service. We do not knowingly permit accounts by anyone under 18 and take action to remove accounts we discover to be underage. We do not target the Service to minors, do not show personalized recommendations to users we know to be minors, and do not run advertising profiling on minors, consistent with DSA Art. 28, the UK Online Safety Act, Texas SCOPE Act, Florida HB 3, California AADC, and equivalent laws. See our Child Safety Standards for our full CSAM/CSEA program.

9. Researcher data access (DSA Art. 40)

Vetted researchers studying systemic risk on the Service may request access by emailingresearch@joinyourspace.org with proof of affiliation and a research plan.
